Make 2½ inch half square triangles as follows:
Pin one color to each background right sides together.
Mark as shown.
Sew 1/4 inch from each side of the diagonal line.
Cut on solid lines.
Stitch 1/4 inch on each side of the marked lines.
Press open.
Cut along marked lines.
Sew 1/4 inch from each side of the diagonal line.
Cut on solid lines.
Press open and trim.
The demo above was not a 6x3 inch rectangle.
It was larger so there was a lot more to trim to make a 2½ square.

Make 4 Flying Geese as follows:
Mark as shown.Stitch 1/4 inch on each side of the marked lines.
Press open.
Cut along marked lines.
