Tues Tutorial Tip~ Hiding Pin Ends to Stop Stabbing

When binding a quilt,
I only use 1 pin ahead
to hold down the binding
as I hand stitch.
I got so tired of that
one pin stabbing me
when manipulating the quilt.
Here's the tip I use.
Bury the tip of the pin,
in between fabric layers.
Push the pin as far in as possible
(more than here)
so you don't accidentally
push it in further and still stab yourself.
It's saved me from a lot of
surprise stabbing.

Fun Fri~Triangle Scarf w/ Border from Knitted Dish Cloth Pattern

I have so enjoyed
knitting cotton dish clothes
during this past winter.
I started making them
for a house warming gift.
Then, as long as
I had the cotton yarn
I kept going.
One day I was watching a You Tuber
making a triangle scarf.
The beginning stitches
 seemed very complicated.
Realizing the beginning part of the
dish cloth was a triangle,
I wondered why a scarf
couldn't be that simple.
The dish cloth pattern
has a border I really like.
So I pulled out a soft yarn of a
spring color.
It does remind me of the "new"
Christmas green too.

So I started with the directions of the
dish cloth
through row 2
and just kept going.
Did not move on to Row 3.
 I kept increasing and
got to where I had enough
to bind off.

This is what I had left.
Actually, I went a row to far
and had to undo a row
then bind off.
I have no idea
how many rows were knitted.

So there is a simple triangle scarf
with a border
knitting pattern for you.

Have fun.

Quilt Shot 193~ Echo Block: QOV 2026 Block

The QOV National Sew Day
was the first Saturday of February the 7th.
Unfortunately, our's was canceled due to icy travel.

I only managed to make one block.
This is this year's QOV block.
It's very easy, and very versatile.
This block makes a beautiful border for a panel.
The center block can be scrappy for a whole quilt.

You can find the directions for this block

Fun Fri~ House Warming Knitted Dish Clothes

Had a member at church to move into
her first home.
So, time was spent during the frozen snow season
on the couch using up the leftover cotton yarn.

My favorite quick project

Sun Best~Provoked Thought: 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 ESV

These were the last Bible verses,
Mr. G noted on his phone
without knowing he had limited time left.

The following is a picture of my journal
after a sermon we both enjoyed very much.

 It's a bit late,
but if you'd like to make some potholders

Thoughtful Thur~ Old Snow Waits for New Snow

This was one of my Mother's sayings.

 Through the two weeks
nothing melting because of temps below 28ºF  only.
Several nights were single to negative digits.
The creek has been frozen
those 2 weeks.
That's a rare thing to happen.
So it waited around for Feb. 2.

 Today is Feb 5, 2026.
Nothing has changed
including the high temp at 28ºF.
We might have a dusting (I hope) of snow Fri night.
The temps finally go above freezing next week.
Then, I can finally get out of my drive.

Does old snow wait for new snow?

Sun Best~Provoked Thought: Hebrews 10: 25 ASV

A friend mentioned last week before the big snow/ice storm hit the lower half of the United States,
"What if everyone got ready to meet God with the same urgency they had in preparing for the storm?"

When was the last time you assembled as a group praising God?

Fun Fri~ SIL#2 Bday Card 2026

If memory serves me correctly,
there was an island of trees
across from the boat dock
of their Cabin close to Thousand Islands
on the St. Lawrence River.

Happy birthday to one of the
greatest Son-in-Laws.

Fun Friday~ Tea Wallet

One of the Christmas gifts made for this past year. I was able to buy a variety pack of tea to put into these wallets.
This could also be used to hold a variety of cards.
There are several videos that show how to make these with different closures.

  • Cut 2 pieces of fabric the size you would like for your wallet.
  • Cut 3 pieces of fabric the same width as the fabric above, and the size you'd like pockets to be when you fold them in half.
  • Interface fabric pieces if you like. I decide according to the thickness and body of fabric.
  • Space the pockets apart evenly, to fit your tea packets.

Mark and stitch down the middle

Place backing right side facing pockets.
Stitch around all edges quarter inch
 leaving an opening for turning.
Turn inside out.
Top stitch all edges less than quarter inch
just wide enough to close opening.
