Happy Birthday Chair Covers

I thought this would be a simple task, but missed the target on measurements.  These chair covers ended up swallowing these little kindergarten chairs.
However, I think you get the idea.

*************
Fabric for the letters was backed with iron on interfacing.
The letters were free cut.  My go-to lettering I always used in school for my bulletin boards.  A lot faster than using the cutting machine, plus I could make them in any size needed.
                 Zig-Zag stitch around the letters.

Cut the cover the width needed by the chair.  The length (apparently I missed it) is to be the height of the chair back from seat to top of chair back plus a turn-up pocket if you like.  I was thinking the child needed a place for book/notebooks.
Fold in half lengthwise, right sides together with one end edge, which you have finished, meeting the folded bottom of the back pocket which was folded toward the right side of the fabric.  In other words, the pocket is folded toward inside. Stitch down the sides, turn right side out.
The name pocket was made using leftover plastic from the packaging that sheets, pillow cases, blankets & bedspreads come in. Binding was added to reinforce the stitching.
