Getting Our Kicks~ Route 66 Vaca ~ Day 3

Pontiac, IL to Eureka, MO
------ A rainy mist to light rain most of the day, ending with dark clouds.

First we road down memory lane.

Atlanta, IL is said to be the half way point between Chicago & St. Louis
The #2 Giant.
Yep, it was a rainy day, but that was ok.

Lincoln, IL  @ the World's Largest Covered Wagon & Lincoln, the #3 Giant.
At Springfield, IL Route 66 goes in 2 directions.
One route is the road before 1930 and the other is after.
Somehow the choice was made for us, and we took the route down the oldest route.
That route included a 1.4 mile stretch of brick road still being used!
Just a sampling of Mr. G's sign collection.

Finished the first state, Illinois, as we crossed the Mississippi River at the end of the day headed to end to our room.
Super deal on the room too!
I'm ready for a nice soft bed.
Night, night.
