Quilt Shot Block #61 ~ Iowa from Splendid Sampler

12½ inch
by Sherri McConnell
I didn't follow recommendations for using different fabrics as the designer directed.
I also converted measurements for the pattern's 6 inch block to make a 12 inch block
to go with the rest of my sampler blocks.
To make this 12 ½ inch block you need:
Background- 8 squares- 3½ x 3½ in
Solid- 2 rectangles- 3½ x 12½ in
Print 1- 2 rectangles- 3½ x 6½ in
Print 2- 2 rectangles- 3½ x 6½ in
The free pattern for this block can be found

offered by
Jane Davis & Pat Sloan

Meanwhile the name of this block sounded familiar to me.
In doing a search I found these:
Traditional 50 State Quilt Block Swap- scroll down to see the "Iowa" block.
Jinny Beyer- scroll down to #62  "Iowa Star" (yep, not Iowa)

  1. This is pretty, Joy. And such nice fabrics.

  2. I love your choice of fabric and how you mixed the motifs. You gave this block a late summer feel. :-)

Have a JOYful day!
