Tues Tutorial~ Burrito Style Pillowcase Yardage & Quick Reference Directions

A few weeks ago I made pillowcases for veterans so the American Legion could present gifts for Christmas in them.  I decided to make some to present my own gifts for Christmas.  In so doing, I found myself constantly looking at the yardage chart & directions for the order the process needed to be. So as in the case of other things I make often, I wanted a chart to post on my Quick Reference Wall.  As shabby as my wall looks, I can still find directions or patterns there faster than on my phone, computer or many notebooks I have. My sewing and quilting journals can be pretty fast sometimes.  So I'm sharing my charts with you in this tutorial.

The charts are jpegs so you can download them as any picture.

One step you might want to include:
after you turn inside out,
you may need to trim to even the sides.
I keep the left side even,
and the different lengths end up on the right
so that side has to be cut to even the fabric edges.
Not all fabrics are made with the same width.

If you'd like to have the yardage measurements,
and quick directions all on one sheet,
download the picture below.

As always, if the written directions without pictures
don't make sense,
just watch one of the many videos available
out in internet land.
Once you view them,
you just need the quick directions to remind you how it went together.

TIP:
The accent piece can be any width you like.
The yardage chart here says 4.5 inches.
I actually went all the way to 1½ inches.
Use the scraps you have.
OR, don't use an accent piece at all.

 Do whatever you like.
Make the border match the main,
add silk ribbon as accent?

Have fun making them.

  1. This is the way I make all my pillowcases - generally works like a charm. However my latest attempt was a big headache because of my turning the main piece of fabric in the wrong direction. User error!
