Another set of bowl cozies
for the
neighbors
and
mail carriers.
Yes, I included the substitute mail carrier,
because they work long hard hours
for less money.

Thoughtful Thurs~ How Did You Present Your Gifts for 2024?

How much thought do you put into presenting your gifts or gift wrapping?
Since I have so much fabric,
for several years now
I have made gift bags that can be reused to help the environment.
Several do tell me later,
they continue using the bag
either for a gift bag to another
or
mostly for themselves
for everyday utility purposes.

This year after I made
Christmas pillowcases for
shut in Veterans
to present their Christmas gifts,
I decided to make my own family
Christmas pillowcases for their gift bags.

Then I made their gift tags to match.

In total,
I made 10 pillowcases and 5 bags.

Do you put a lot of thought into your gift wrapping?
Is it important to you that you put thought into wrapping?

Tues Tutorial~ Italian Sausage Balls for One

For years, Christmas has been a time for sausage balls. I have no business making an entire batch, because I'm the only one eating them.  One morning I had a craving for them, but no sausage on hand except for Italian sausage. I thought why not try that and enjoy the extra spices an Italian sausage offers.  I also did a little math and made a much smaller amount just for one person.

This is the entire batch.

Here is the recipe.
Nothing detailed.
Just mixed it all up.
Your hands are the best mixer
and ball rolling maker.

You know the usual,
Bake @ 350° about 12 to 15 minutes.
Also, it doesn't have to be Bisquick
just a baking mix.
Your cheese of choice will do.

I think you'll like em.

*Update: A comment below asked if they froze well.

Yes you can freeze them before or after you bake them.  Freeze separately before you bag them together so you can bake as many as you want as needed, or bake them and reheat in the microwave.  I like them for breakfast.

Mon Memory~ Of Christmas Past

I'm not the best house keeper in the world,
but one thing I always try to do:
Clear off my cutting table when I finish for the day.
However, the month of December becomes a different thing.
As I try to get so many projects done during December,
some end up staying on the table,
because I will be using the same fabric to make more of the same.
Or, I've been shopping through my shelves to pull fabrics for
ideas, and here it stays
until I use it or
not.
Another thing,
I'm also just dragging by the end of the day,
and do well to turn everything off
and
collect what I need to take downstairs

It's been this way for so many Christmas Pasts
I've lost count.
It goes back to the early 70s when I had to make gifts,
because we couldn't afford to buy
at full price.

That's a bunch of memories ago.

Fun Fri~ Making Use of the Last Piece of Yarn

Any more I just can't sit and watch an entire movie on TV and do nothing,
or I find my hand trying to stuff food in my mouth.
(not an ad, but I watch
 premium You Tube
where I've found a lot of movies that
I don't have to pay additional.
I pay the premium price because I despise ads.)

So lately, I've been grabbing the knitting needles and making
 my favorite dish cloth
that now takes a little over 2 hours
which is the length of a lot of movies these days.
While using the last of the yellow,
I ran out of that color and
grabbed a piece of green.
The piece of yarn you see is
what was left of the green
when I got done.

This is a cotton yarn
so it can be used
as a dish cloth.
Although,
I wouldn't think over a second to use
under a warm bowl.

Have fun keeping your hands busy
with something
 that has ZERO calories.

Thoughtful Thurs~ Busy in Santa's Workshop: Casserole Carrier

To be reversible,
just bring the handle around to the other side.

Folds up to take less space.

Tues Tutorial~ 2024 Christmas Post Cards

So here is this year's post cards to go in the mailboxes at church. A few will be mailed to family and friends. There were 24 made today, and probably will need more. Each one does not take a lot of time to make. It's a way to use up those tiny bits of scraps.

First make dryer sheets (or whatever backing you choose) full of stitched on fabric like is done HERE or HERE without backing. For these cards, dryer sheets were covered then folded in half and cut to making almost exactly 2 cards.

With a word processor (I used Open Office, a free program, which I've used since 2011), make the words to go on the front of the card. Above shows the picture of the half sheet remaining. The font that was used is called "pw Christmas font" downloaded free from www.dafont.com. A rotary blade specifically used for cutting paper, aka dull blade, was used to cut the phrases apart with a rotary cutting ruler.

Experiment with special edged cutting scissors.

Stitch the phrase to the fabric only.

 Stitch around the edge
with
an edge foot
or any foot with a blade.
Let the blade of the foot move along
the edge of the card,
while the needle is moved to the left around the 2.0 position.

Trim

The card stock was printed using the
"Just Cole Cursive" font
also from Dafont.
