Wonky Log Cabin
*
This block is at the top of the list for my all time favorites to make.
I love it because you don't have to measure accurately.
You can free hand cut the strips.
A great way to use different size scraps.
These 8 ½ inch blocks were scraps left over from making masks.
You keep adding on until you get the size you want
then trim to the square you need.
Now THAT is the kind of sane quilting I can get behind! Log cabin is one of my favourite patterns and being able to create blocks in this manner has to be such fun. Alas I don't have enough cottons left in my stash to even contemplate doing anything beyond two or three small squares.
ReplyDeleteThis is a big favorite for memory quilts too, because it's easy to cut shirts, pants, skirts and such into strips. But, I guess you cleaned out your closets too?
