Quilt Shot Block #91~ T-Shirt Quilt

A Band T-shirt Quilt
This was my first T-shirt quilt

These special T-shirts survived a house fire set by a burglar while the family was at work and school.
After the shirts were cleaned by a specialty company, they were boxed away hoping a quilt could be made.
The layout process went quickly, because the teen laid out the T-shirts
in the order she wanted them and email a picture.
Certainly saved a lot of my decision making time.
The largest printed screen was under 22 inches,
so I used my big ruler to cut them out in one layer.
I didn't cut the t-shirts apart, because I wanted to keep as much fabric intact as possible.
I didn't know what I might need later.

The squares were chalked, then single layers cut with scissors.
A piece of laminate that was cut off the cutting table when I moved was used to create a pressing area.
A sheet folded several times worked as a padding.
All layers kept the cutting mat from getting warm.

I had purchased a large bolt of iron on interfacing years ago.

Smaller units from sleeves.
After putting the 22 inches squares together,
I decided the quilt was going to be too big to manage easily,
and would absolutely swallow a twin bed.
So I trimmed the squares to 12 ½ inches, my favorite workable size.

One thing I really like about my Dream Frame quilting frame,
is I only need to pin the backing the the leader clothes.
Then I pin one edge of the batting and quilt top.
I don't have to pin or baste the whole quilt.

I try to remember to make the quilt label and sew onto the backing
 BEFORE
I do the quilting.
This one happened to land inside a printed area of a shirt where I didn't do quilting.
