Quilt Shot Block #15~ Birthday Cake

12 inch
We've got a birthday coming up in the family tomorrow.
So I thought why not try the block called "Birthday Cake?"
Yes, the pink triangles around the edge remind me of candles.

2 1/2 inch wide strips of fabric (I used scraps.)
Mark off every 2 1/2 inch then mark the diagonal line.
Stitch 1/4 inch from the diagonal lines.
Cut apart the squares and along the diagonal lines.
The rest of the square is made from 5 1/2 in squares.
You can cut 5 7/8 inch squares and make as above.
Liked this block, because there was very little seam matching.

  1. Lovely quilt piece, I had no idea there were this many different quilt patterns! Stay warm, I hear you are getting some of our cold weather. I promise my daughter did not bring it with her, lol. ~Diane

  2. I love this block. And I like it when I don't have to match seams. I think I have my MIL's block a day calendar. I should do this. :)
