Quilt Shot Block #54~ Midnight Mystery Quilt- Dissecting Courthouse Steps

December instructions said to cut the Courthouse Steps in quarters.
Brought these gianormous 19 inch squares with me to Florida so I could work on the mystery quilt.
Christmas projects pushed the December directions aside.
This is my temporary studio.
And, this is my view!
I hadn't read the directions before I left home, and didn't know we were to quarter these 19 inch squares.
It didn't fit on my portable cutting mat!
It didn't fit on the mat in one direction.
My routine evolved into matching corners and sides to fold in half and pressing.
Unfold & repeat the other direction.
Double checked the pressed line to make sure it hit the 9 1/2 inch mark.
I also marked with erasable air marker to make it easier to see.
The folding lines helped me make sure I was on target across the center
and later for cutting the half in half.
Matched markings to lines on mat lengthwise.
Cut & turned mat.
Removed bottom half.
Realigned folded center & at least one line along the long edge.

Hour and half later..........
 70°F today.
December directions for Midnight Mystery quilt to be finished later.
This is a memory quilt made from Mother and Dad's garments.

  2. I am working on that very thing right now too. I had trouble with the courthouse steps sort of bowing out on the sides. I have to trim them up tonight before I cut. Can't wait to see yours.
