Thoughtful Thurs~ A Quick Warm Cowl Idea

Takes longer to pull out
your fleece and cut it,
than to sew this Cowl together.
What's a cowl?
It's a circle of fabric to wear around your neck.
You can make them wide enough
to pull up over your head.
I didn't have enough fabric
to do that.
This one goes to my mail carrier daughter.
I thought it would work better than
a scarf with dangling ends
hanging down to get in her way
of manipulating mail.

Got this thoughtful idea from
Thank-you.

Tues Tutorial~ SIL#1 Bday Card 2025

This was a belated birthday card due to a great temperature drop, and I didn't heat up my sewing room. Nor, was I able to get to my mailbox.
Let's be clear about the label of #1. He was the first son-in-law that I was blessed to have
Remember I make my personal cards to reflect something that happened during the previous year. Can you tell one of the things my son-in-law likes to hunt.

Tuesday Tutorial

In searching for the most simple duck drawing, because I was only using the outline, I came across, "How to Draw a Duck."  They had a coloring page available to download for free. I then downsized the picture to fit and print on one quarter of the page.

I decided to use something from
 my huge collection embroidery thread
 which I seldom use anymore.

I usually use a fabric softener sheet to back my work for cards.
However, since I was using the lighter weight embroider thread,
I pulled out a scrapping of embroidery stabilizer.

I decided to use a triple stitch
to embolden the stitch line.
I even thought about doing an echo stitch
of a different color,
but decided that would be too fiddling.
A triple stitch takes 2 stitches forward, 1 backward.

 Of course I tested first
including the stabilizer.
I also still used a  single stitching foot,
instead of a free motion foot.

Thoughtful Thurs ~ Redo Rib Knit Hat

Remember the first rib knit hat I made?
Then after just practicing only the knit stitch
to make scarves,

Well, since I was still snowed in
and stranded to the couch,
I decided to take the first hat apart,
and have a do-over
so I could start a box
of baby gifts ready to go.

Here it is......

I figured out one of my problems
with the first hat,
as I used the circular needles,
I apparently picked them up reversing needles in my hand.
So I marked one needle with a green mark,
and now I make sure it is always in my left hand.
I don't have to think about which needle goes in my left hand.

I still have some stitches that
look fat
for some reason?
Gotta think about that a bit more.
 ******
So now with a box of baby gifts started,
 I'm thinking
later on
 I'll be glad
I had something on hand.
