Tues Tutorial~ Jan/Feb Welcome Yard Flag

The welcome flag placed outside the church door last fall had begun to fade. It also was out of season. So, I made one to last at least through January and February.

Find measurements here: https://joysjotsshots.blogspot.com/2017/03/basketball-yard-banner.html for the flag (the navy blue part). The white is the size of the snowflake I wanted to cut to place on the flag.

Everything you always needed to know you learned in kindergarten. In my case it was first grade because K wasn't available. I made many paper snowflakes in those days. Especially from the Sears catalog on snow days at home.

n
As usual, I free hand cut the letters from rectangle pieces
the height of the letter to be made.
Fabric for letters,
were leftover pieces of a shirt turned into a pillow cover
Notice not every edge of the snowflake was stitched.
It and the letters were raw edge stitched.

You can find other flags and projects on this page.

Thoughtful Thurs~ Sister's Birthday Card 2024

I didn't have a picture in mind for her card,
so just used a technique I wanted to try.
This could be an all occasion card.
If you follow this blog,
you know I use old dryer sheets
as my canvas.

Then I stitch the piece onto the card stock.

Wordless Wed (sort of) 368~ Traveling Friend's Binding and Crochet Projects

Her brother made the top
She finished the binding on the trip.
The backing is a comfy flannel.
Sewed the lace border on.
Didn't have yarn with her
 to finish the border.
Isn't this so dainty and beautiful?

General Store

The garage was attached to the back of the general store.
It was also the gas station.
Also, in a room on the side of the store
was the dentist, barber, post office and bank.

Tues Tips~ Sharps Container for OLD Pins, Needles and Rotary Cutter Blades

An old container that gum came in.
I've used this container over 11 years now.
I know a lot of people already use this idea as well.

The large opening is perfect for the round blades.
The smaller opening is good for pins that become bent, or rusted.
I only put broken or bent machine needle in here.
If they were just nicked, they go in an old pin cushion
for other uses like picking threads, or
pinning something together indefinitely like to store away.

I'm sure one day this top will break off.
Not sure what I will use then,
because the last time I bought this gum in bulk,
I could only find it in a bag.
Our world is being packaged away.
