EnJOY the RESULTS!

So I continued to meet & sew the side of the strip until it became almost a square.

Keeping in mind these quilts have to be rugged to last on dirt floors and warm for a cold night, in these quilts we use old blankets or flannel sheets instead of batting.

Amazing that I devised a plan NOT to meet corners and it happened in some places anyway.

  4. I’ll take it. Was it one piece self border backing?

    1. i had to go look. It was going to be a self border from the backing, but there was not enough backing. So I sewed an inch and half strip to backing and folded around to the front. The seam of the binding and backing is on the edge of the quilt. I've never made another like that since. The zig zag stitch was one a lady used to use when we made quilts for the children's home at Liberty, KY.
