Tues Tutorial~ 2nd Daughter Birthday Card 2025

 

I know many people fuss about their mail carrier because a few have done wrong. My daughter works her heart out to deliver the mail in a timely manner. She's over worked especially at Christmas. They have required hours within which to deliver their mail no matter how much the mail amount increases. That's why they don't stop and chat as much as you used to see. It really hurts when I hear people, especially Congress, fuss about the carriers rather than try to help them out. The  reorganization now requires some carriers to driver further, as much as 30 minutes 1 way, to pick up their mail they deliver. I just wish people would stop and think their mail isn't the only mail being delivered, and when they fuss at the carrier, they are fussing at someone that can't do anything about it.
   So I wished my daughter a Happy Birthday with a card through the mail on a day she diligently delivered the mail, and then went home and mowed her yard.

  1. I'm sure your daughter appreciated both the card AND the freshly mown lawn! Here in Canada it seems we're back in a situation where the post office is poised to go on strike - again (that will be twice in six months). The post office is claiming they are operating at a huge loss which is understandable because people are fed up and are going to alternative means of delivery. Not only are they fed up with that, but also not happy about the huge increases they're charging. Gone are the days when we can afford to send little gifties in the mail to friends. We suspect, by the time the dust settles, the post office as we know it will be no more and instead will be privatized. They're now talking about putting in central locations for picking up mail which will put a stop to the door-to-door delivery we've had up until now. I don't mind that, but it will put carriers out of a job as well as not being a safety check on seniors and shut ins. Many times it's a mail carrier that notices that something is wrong and calls for a wellness check. Currently we are supposed to get 5x week delivery but I'm pretty certain that has dropped to 3x - something they've done quietly, no doubt hoping people wouldn't notice. I don't know what the answer is and I feel sorry for the carriers that have it so hard.

  3. Now that was a nice present and I'm sure she loved both it and the mowed lawn!! As the wife of a UPS man, I can tell you they face the same thing. My husband complained when management told the drivers not to spend too much time talking to their customers to keep within the time estimates for delivering what is in their truck for the day (yes, how long they take at each stop is tracked) but then expected them to ask their customers to hold packages so they wouldn't have to be retuned to the base for re-delivery. My husband asked a supervisor, "how do you expect me to ask someone for a favor if I don't have a relationship with them?". It was better when the "higher ups" came from the ranks so understood the day-to-day from experience doing it not just from data metrics.
