Fun Fri~ Binding MY First Completed QOV Quilt

I have worked several years in our
local Quilt of Valor Group.
I've made blocks for group quilts,
put the blocks of group quilts together to make a top,
binded a few quilts,
and repaired a few quilts.
For some reason I'd never got around to finishing
a complete quilt top of my cutting myself.

but got stalled on deciding a border.
(I think it's interesting how the vision of the Friendship star was lost
when they were placed side by side without sashing.)
Then it never got finished and to this day, it's still just a top.
(More info on this @ Friendship Star

When I passed the quilt top on to our QOV quilter,
I requested it be returned to me for binding,
so I could complete it.
When I bind a quilt,
I fan fold the binding in my right hand drawer.
This works great for me.

I'm getting better at bringing the ends of the binding together.
They say "Practice Makes Perfect."
I think it has a lot to do with muscle and brain memory.

On my lap ready for handstitching,
which is required for a QOV.
I keep it folded like this as much as possible.
I use 1 quilting pin to travel in front of my stitching.
My stitches are about 1/8 inch apart.
So I have to use very strong glasses,
which makes it a bit hard to watch TV.
However, I binge watched a series for the 3 days I worked on this binding.
I work my way around the corners,
then flip over the folded quilt.
It's just easier for me to handle this way.
So yesterday,
I took the quilt to the Needlework Group to finish.
It's exciting for me when I come close to the end.
I turned the quilt over to our leader when I finished.
She's taking it to put a label on it that will include
date and all who were involved in making it.
I forgot to take a final picture of the completed binding.
It is to be awarded at the end of this month,
and a picture will be taken.
So check in later to see the finished quilt.
