Fun Fri~ Eminence, KY Barn Quilt Blocks

One of the last road trips, Mr G and I took.
I never got around to showing off these shots.
This was on the same day we took
THIS trip and
found "Ralph's Pretty Good Cars."

I had SO much fun riding around with Mr. G
so I could take pictures as we road.
I know he enjoy each of our adventures as much as I did.
I still miss him a bunch.

Tues Tip~ Bag in a Pocket Reader Idea

My "Bag in a Pocket" tutorial has been one of my all time most visited sites as you can see from my side bar. Recently a visiting reader, Nancy M. sent me some pictures of the bags she made for an upcoming fair where she would be selling her works. She wanted to share her idea with me and gave me permission to share with you.

Nancy's idea had to do with a new handle style.

Her comment:
" I made a modification, 1 handle is 28" the other is 13".  the long handle goes over the gear shift.  For carrying the long handle goes thru the short handle, so I only have to carry 1 handle and the contents won't tip or fall out."
I did mention to her in response to be careful how much weight you put on the gear shift. I had placed my purse on mine and it kept my gear shift from locking in correctly and wouldn't let me start my car. After removing my bag and jiggling my gear shift with my brake engaged, my car then started.
Nancy got her idea from a Japanese bag pattern where one handle is shorter, then loops through the other handle as a closure.  These patterns are free in many places online.

I'm anxious to hear how successful her fair event turned out.

Thank you Nancy for sharing your pictures and ideas and letting me know you used my tutorial.
You can find the tutorial for my "Bag in a Pocket" idea HERE.  I only ask that you give some kind of credit to me. I don't want someone claiming my idea later then declaring it wasn't my idea. You can see the date on my post to tell when I came up with the idea. I share my ideas to help others in hard times, or help others to help others. Pay it forward.
As you see, I don't cover my blog with ads, therefore I don't make money through this blog. I highly appreciate google for letting me do this.

I highly appreciate the hosts hosting.

Fun Fri~ Lunch @ The Kentucky Castle

Versailles, Kentucky, USA

Rarely seen back view of the Castle.

I have a special group of former colleagues
that I still meet up with for lunch occassionally.
They actually meet about every week,
but I hadn't seen them for almost 2 years.
When Jan said they were eating at
The Kentucky Castle
I HAD to go for the experience.
Above is the view from my table.

I had the country ham with
thinly sliced apple
& thinly sliced brie cheese (don't ask me how)
with a teaspoon of cherry preserves & balsamic vinegar
on a foccacia bun
with fries.

Country ham is a southern thing, especially in Kentucky.
The Castle had a Blueberry Cornbread on the menu
that looked interesting.
Just a slight bit of Easter decor.
I understand Christmas is the time to go.

What I found odd about this trip is
I've lived in the Lexington, KY
area since 2000.
The Castle had not been finished then
and actually was at a stand still
and had a fire so folks
thought it would just be a ruins.
Since the 70s when visiting Lexington
we would pass this grand scene
never thinking we would visit.
It finally came available to the public,
but was told it was very expensive.
However, the new owners
apparently wanted to change that idea
and share this special place with the public.
This past February,
my daughter arranged for some of our family
to take a FREE tour.
I'll post that later.
So, this was actually my second time to visit
all of a sudden within a 3 month period!
It was a fun experience.

Tues Tutorial~ Cheat Sheet for Flat Folded Fabric Boxes

I'm so glad that Rosie and David Patterns came up with this Flat Fold Fabric Box.  She gives  VERY detailed instructions on the "Rosie's Art Studio" You Tube Channel. I'm trying my best to remember each step, but I just don't have time to sit through the long video. I wish she had hard copy picture steps to follow but doesn't. So I decided to make my own "cheat sheet" that I could quickly pull up on my phone via this blog. I could print this post, but it would be multiple pages requiring more ink than I dare use.

So where details aren't given on this "cheat sheet", please, please check out Rosie's Art Studio: Rosie and David's Pattern You Tube Channel to understand much better.  By all means I do not take any credit for this idea. You can also find her worksheet there to help calculate the amount of fabric for any box size you'd like to make. She explains how to use the worksheet in her video. She also provides a facebook link for a group that are sharing their projects where you can see their ideas.
