When binding a quilt,
I only use 1 pin ahead
to hold down the binding
as I hand stitch.
I got so tired of that
one pin stabbing me
when manipulating the quilt.
Bury the tip of the pin,
in between fabric layers.
Push the pin as far in as possible
(more than here)
so you don't accidentally
push it in further and still stab yourself.
surprise stabbing.

OOf! I have always found at least one forgotten pin in every quilt my mother ever made. It was like she leaving a little reminder for the recipient!
