That is a great way to use those scraps. I might be tempted to use fusible bonding, but that would make it less of a make and take. Certainly it sounds like a fun activity.
Your fusible bonding is a great idea. Yes, we wouldn't have an ironing center set up, and it is a bit more costly than school glue.
I think this technique would be fun using small Christmas prints and could be done using paper pieces instead of fabric. Lots of possibilities!
