Embellish it any way you like.
Make two tops as a reversible top by stitching shoulder seam first.
Then stitch them right sides together along front and neck, leaving opening on one of the fronts.
Clip neck.
On each top, stitch sides and under arms together.
Clip under arms to make a smoother edge when turned.
Stitch the 2 tops together around neck & fronts & bottom leaving opening in front. Turn right side out & top stitch over opening. Turn under hem of sleeve and hand stitch.
Adding Velcro type closing.
In no time you have a reversible top which can be opened in back or front.
The part that takes the longest is turning inside out.
This pattern will also fit an 18 inch doll like American Girl, Journey Girl, etc.
This is great! I'm about to get into sewing doll clothes for my niece and encouraging my daughter to do it this summer when school is out as a little business possibly, so this is exactly where our heads are at the moment! Thanks for sharing on craft schooling Sunday!
ReplyDeleteThe doll certainly has a beautiful top now. I like the contrasting band. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for participating to my Fabric, Thread and Yarn link party. Have a great weekend!
