Wordless Wednesday #87~Creekside & Harlan, KY Winter

Just received the following awesome shot from my Southern KY Photographer Friend with the following note:

The town of Harlan appeared to slumber Monday evening beneath, yet, another mantle of snow that had spread its gripping chill over the region.

  5. Great captures of the snow. I really like the city shot. Isn't that the town in Justified?

    1. I'm not familiar with Justified. Just did some research and sounds like a program I would like to watch.

  8. Commenting for second time as last comment seems to have not worked.
The show Justified is set here . It is based on an Elmore Leonard short story titled Fire in the Hole. You will hear that phrase used often by the anti hero in show.
There is a shot used in the opening credits taken from a similar angle as the night shot here. If memory serves, there is a site saying where exactly the shot used was taken.
It is too bad filming of the show was not done there as it could have been good for the economy. It does do a good job of capturing the way of life for people that have been there for generations and their Love of their home.
Thank you for the photos. They are Lovely and I would like to visit Kentucky one day.
    God bless.
