Wonky Log Cabin was posted on You Tube about 5 years ago and that was probably when I found it, because I know its been a long time ago I've had this on my to-do list.
I've recently started making these from scraps.
Although I've cut a few pieces of scraps into strips, I mostly just grabbed pieces from my scrap pile.
Since I didn't use all strips, here are a couple of tips from me.
Use the previously sewn sides as guides for cutting.
Cut the strips as you want to vary them as you go and as the scraps allow you.
I've decided not to cut mine wonky, because I want to leave it on the grain so when I quilt the fabric won't stretch so easily.

ReplyDeleteI've just discovered log cabins. I do like the idea of wonky ones, as I think they'd be faster to make and allow better use of scrap fabric. Great tips and look forward to seeing your wonky blocks sewn together and finished.
