Make Your Own Recipe Book

On a recent visit to my Mother's, I found this recipe book my sister had acquired for her when attending a Ladies Day at a church over in the next county.  It happened to be the church where my Mother grew up and my Grand Parents help establish many years ago.

I could think of many possibilities for this idea and many ways I could gift this little book whether it be recipes, poems, pictures.... the ideas are limitless.  I have so many scrap pieces of fabric this size or you could recycle clothing that you can't use anymore because of stains or rips.

I was super busy & my Grand Daughter Katy happened to be there so I handed her the camera and asked her to have at it and take some pictures for my blog.  I've only done a little cropping to some of these pictures.  Don't you think she did a great job?

Here is a zippy tutorial of how I think this book is put together, enJOY!

Stack all sheets, fold in half to mark your stitch line.
Stitch one row of stitching through all sheets using longest stitch possible.  Too short and sheets will come apart.  You will have to determine how many sheets your machine/needle can go through at a time.  You could do multiple sets side by side like a real book is put together.

You may find this post at several Linky Parties.

  1. Is that sewn in? Love the cover colors. I make covers that can be slipped on a composition notebook that I give to girlfriends for journals, they're fun to make...

    1. Yes Madge the pages are sewn in. Thanks for the idea of a slip cover for a composition notebook. I can see adding pockets for a pencil/pen somewhere. I'm a journal nut and carry one everywhere.

  8. Not only is this a great project and yes, she did a fabulous job with the photos, but I really enjoyed how you photoshoped the directions right onto the photo. You are too clever. :D Thanks for sharing this week on BeColorful

    1. Thank you Pamela for the nice compliment. You may just be using the "term" photoshoped, but I use Gimp to do what Photoshop does. As a computer teacher I worked with Photoshop for a few years. When I retired, I couldn't take the software with me. I have found that Gimp (which is a free download) will do anything I asked Photoshop to do and learning more all the time.
