Halltown, Phelps, Avilla, & Carthage, Missouri
ending in Joplin, Missouri.

Into Kansas
The quality of the road changed drastically.
The short road ran through a deserted mining area with railroad tracks and abruptly ended at the end of Galena, Kansas.
This place really had the touch of the west.
Riverton & Baxter Springs, Kansas
In Baxter Springs, you will now find our names on the wall of an old service station.
Crossing the state line- a very rough
road that started as chip seal and ended with gravel over a 9 foot
concrete/paved section.
At the end was a historic marker with a
typed piece of paper that said, well you read it. As it was, the
shut down ended last night.

Miami, OK
Time for lunch @ Miami. Found a city park.

Afton, OK ~ Stopped at a museum
(formerly Packard Garage) which had various old vehicles. Met a lady
there that had lived in Lexington, KY and gone to school at UK. Found
out she grew up on the same street of the school where I last
taught, but said she moved there too late to go to that school. While in
their museum, I walked up to what I thought would be a bus and found
out it was an RV and a very nice one at that.
Across the street:

Catoosa, OK – the Blue Whale- The
water park of the 70s & 80s.

The old car is very cool! I like the orange gas pump, too. And the giant whale! Really nice sights!
