Peddler's Mall in March, 2013

Our local Peddler's Mall- The Merchants have upped their game and most are doing a fabulous job setting up their booths.  Most do a great job switching out merchandise to compliment the season and/or holiday.  Most booths aren't junky and cluttered like they used to be.  I like to go to get inspired and take the camera to help me make notes.

Peddler's Mall is a place where someone has already gone through Goodwill, Salvation Army, yard sales and auctions for you and picked out the good stuff.  .........and tripled the price or more.

But, I enJOYed seeing how they display the things.

Some use a great imagination to get you to step into their booth.

Thanks to Mr. G for letting me use his new pocket Cannon Camera.  Takes great pictures doesn't it?
I have more pictures to share from this trip on a later post.  Many are shots of DIY projects.

Comparing Spring ~ 2011 to 2013

Comparing 3 years in my new home.  Doesn't seem like it's been that long.  The first spring was what I would call a "normal" spring.  The second, last year, was way too warm for March and this year way too cold.  I'm with Goldilock, I like it just right.

I've taken the pictures on the same day of the year in the same location.  I just like comparing changes and differences. Through these pictures, besides noticing the difference in the season,  I've noticed things have moved and grown or disintegrated.

I could have cheated and taken the pictures a day or 2 early to be more dramatic, because below this is what it looked like the morning of March 25, 2013:

Then during the day, all of that melted away only to come another snow that night,
and therefore the picture below shows the morning of March 26, 2013:
That snow also melted away during the day.  So, I played fair and took the pictures on
March 27, 2013 so I could be exact.  enJOY the comparison pictures below of my backyard.

Across the creek in my backyard.  While the farmer plowed his field.
They stood most of the time with their wing spanned.

Lily Dress

Our family is anxiously awaiting the arrival of the newest member of the family any minute now, because she was supposed to have arrived yesterday!  To celebrate, I made the big sister, Lily, my Grand Niece, a new dress.  I hope she likes it.

Threading My Way_Featured

Her Mommy had posted pictures of different dresses she was hoping to win such as the following dress from Sweet Honey which can be found on etsy right now. (just trying to give credit for the beautiful creative idea at Sweet Honey.  I see such talent in combining beautiful patterns of fabric.)
I had a scraps of fabric from the Mother Lode of fabric from my Special Friend.
Looking through my large stash of patterns, I decided to use McCalls 9203.
One view has buttons in the center of the front bodice, while the other has rows of ribbons.
I decided to make a pleat with a piece of matching fabric to look like an overlay.
I rather thought the back should have been the front.

I despise doing plackets.  Sometimes they work good on knits, most of the time they don't work right on cottons.
When using a variety of fabrics in a garment, I don't match button styles and sometimes not even colors. This is a great way to use my button stash collected over the years from used clothing.  Am I the only person that has a fascination for buttons?

So Lily, Congratulations on a new baby sister, and I hope you like your new dress?
Your Mommy said you wore a size 3T.  This dress is long but I sure don't remember 3T being this big.  Lily, you are growing too fast!

New Curtains for New Nursery

I had the opportunity recently to create some curtains for a new nursery for a new Mother @ my church.  I enJOYed shopping with her in choosing the fabrics and style.  She was so easy to work with and easy to please.
Her color choices really came together!

Each panel was one length of 45 inch wide fabric.  Using twice the width of the fabric, I zig-zagged over a cord to make the ruffles.

For the tie back, I created this piece that would make a nice little skirt for an 18" doll!  Hmmm.  It's 3 lengths of different fabrics sewn as one to a strip of fabric.
Thanks to the new Mommy and Daddy for sending me the pictures.

Inspiration Day w/ Inspiration Quilt

Just mellowed out yesterday with some jazz music while doing some machine embroidering on my neighbor's "Inspirational Quilts" she is making for her children.  Her phrases are based on Bible verses.
